This week, The Stationery Place very kindly included our Custom Calligraphy Return Address Stamps in its 2012 Holiday Gift Guide for Stationery Lovers. As blogger Lyndsey noted: “if you love pretty paper, you probably love office supplies too.” Um, yes! Her guide includes several fantastic ideas for the packaging geeks among us. Personally, the kraft labels she spotlighted from Martha Stewart’s new line at Staples are calling my name. Pop over to see all of Lyndsey’s fab picks!
Learn, Baby, Learn
If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to take part in the Introduction to Pointed Pen Calligraphy Workshop that I teach at Fifteen Eleven in Old Town, this post from one of my past students is a must-read! (Thanks, Emily, for surprising me with your sweet words and for even snapping a photo!)
An Inviting Invitation
We recently had the opportunity to work with Shelli Martinez of Rich Little Bird for the first time when she asked us to address wedding invitation envelopes in our Flint lettering style for a couple who will tie the knot in December. She shared a couple of glimpses of the invitation suite over on the Rich Little Bird web site and we were wowed – what a pretty, wintery confection!
Real Wedding: Andrea and Dan
Is there anything more classic than a black-and-white wedding? Andrea and Dan’s wedding was a gorgeous affair which took place earlier this month and we were truly honored to collaborate on the Day-Of paper goods with the girls at Little Bit Heart and have our handiwork included amidst all of the beautiful details planned and styled by the lovelies at Karson Butler Events. Over the course of the couple’s wedding preparations, they entrusted us with addressing the envelopes for both their wedding and their rehearsal dinner, plus signage and place cards for both events. Our absolute favorite detail, however, were the white-ink-on-black-paper escort cards in our Edwards lettering style that were “passed” on silver trays by tuxedo-clad servers. A-maz-ing and so clever! Jodi Miller Photography captured all of the prettiness of the day. We are including just a few photos here, but the entire day is a must-see, so pop over to Jodi’s site and prepare to get lost in the loveliness!
Feeling Gifty?
Black Friday has come and gone. If you haven’t yet found the perfect gift for someone dear to you, let us make something special just for them! We offer custom hand-lettered return address stamps and custom hand-lettered stationery letterhead stamps that would be perfect for anyone who loves all-things-paper. The stamps are available separately or as a set and they are sure to delight.
Or have us create a gift for the giver in your life – we offer small hand-lettered gift tag stamps with phrases such as “from the garden of …” and “from the kitchen of …” – ideal for someone who takes thoughtfulness to heart.
Other ideas for a truly personal gift: we can hand-letter a poem, saying, verse, vows or even a love letter for you.
Alternately, if your shopping is already complete, you might want to consider one of our large custom holiday gift tag stamps – they put the finishing touch on pretty packages.
All of our stamps can be ordered via our Etsy shop. For custom hand-lettered poems, verses, vows, etc., send us a note via our Contact page and we’ll be in touch to discuss how we can bring your idea to the page. Please note that all orders for delivery by Christmas must be placed by December 10.
Real Wedding: Emily and Charlie
Emily and Charlie got married at the ever-lovely River Farm in October and we were delighted to create a few pretty details for their big day. Our handiwork included two large chalkboards written out in our McConnell lettering style – one that conveyed the order of the ceremony and another that displayed the seriously delicious menu they chose for their guests – plus several smaller chalkboard signs for the dessert table (Pies! Yum!). We also hand-lettered purple seating cards with silver ink. Such a pretty color combination! Laura Ritchie of Events in the City helped the happy couple plan and style the day and Jan Michele Photography captured all of its beauty. Excited to be able to share peeks at the hand-lettered details below!
A is for Apple
Here’s a peek at “poisoned apple” seating cards we created for the Capital Style Gala held recently by the Greater Washington, D.C. chapter of the National Association of Catering Executives. Love the way they were displayed! More photos from the storybook-themed evening can be found on BizBash.
White Thursday!
Featured in Southern Weddings!
Thanks to the ever-gracious Claudia Smith of Fig. 2 Design Studio, our lettering is featured in the newest volume of Southern Weddings. Claudia incorporated a modified version of our Durham lettering style into the invitation suite for the magazine’s Lilly Pulitzer-inspired editorial shoot. Then I lent my pen to other other Fig. 2-designed signage such as drink signs, place cards and a complete hand-lettered menu. The result, as seen in KT Merry’s gorgeous photographs, is a pink-and-orange-and-yellow-washed confection of prettiness. You can see a sampling of the photos on Grey Likes Weddings. But don’t miss picking up a copy of the mag itself – it’s filled with so many beautiful photos as well as tons of hand calligraphy from lots of our talented peers.
Featured in Southern Living!
The workshops I teach at Fifteen Eleven are featured in the December issue of Southern Living! They are one of twelve “experiential” gift ideas the mag recommends as can’t-miss presents this holiday season. Teaching these workshops is one of my favorite things ever, so it’s exciting to see them pop up in such a fabulous magazine alongside eleven other unique and fun suggestions for adventure-filled gifts. Hooray!
